La trampa se coloca en el interior de la Colmena, en lo alto, entre los panales, cerca de la cría. El pequeño escarabajo es atraído por el líquido que contiene la trampa, del que ya no puede escapar (añada unos 25-30 ml de aceite mineral blanco o aceite vegetal con vinagre de sidra de manzana en el centro de la trampa). La trampa es infinitamente reutilizable, ya que se puede abrir la tapa para vaciarla de escarabajos muertos y lavarla para volver a utilizarla.
