The principle of its operation is the vaporization of acaricide product inside a stainless steel coil made red-hot by a gas burner. By pressing and releasing the feed pump button, the product mixed with kerosene oil is taken from the tank and forced into the red-hot coil where it evaporates immediately and exits under pressure through the nozzle. Each vaporized dispensing takes no more than 2 seconds of time. By introducing the ferret nozzle inside the Beehive's small door and pressing the button, the dose needed for a treatment is administered. Heating of the coil is achieved by a burner fed by a camping-gas cartridge. The substances that can be sprayed are the same as those traditionally used in acaricide and bactericide treatments (e.g., thymol). These substances should always be diluted with kerosene oil or demineralized petroleum.(Not suitable for use with oxalic acid!) It is recommended that the coil be emptied and the unit thoroughly cleaned after EACH use, BEFORE turning it off in order to avoid clogging the coil and sprayer. To do this, remove the yellow canister and press the dispenser button repeatedly until the pump is empty and no spray is still coming out, at which point it is advisable to do a few pumps with only diluent without medicine; then close the gas nozzle.During this operation, move the Ferret to different positions in order to get all the fluid left in the coil out. It is also recommended to disassemble and clean the sprayer frequently. Allow the device to preheat for about 2 minutes. Then start the treatment. When the steam becomes moist, stop pumping by letting it escape on its own, then press the button at longer intervals. When the treatment is finished, remove the yellow container, press the dispenser button until the pump is empty and no more spray comes out, then close the gas nozzle. Method of carrying out the treatment 1) Clean the central frames of wax and propolis residues, where the evaporator will be placed.2) Put the Beehive "on bubble". 3) The "BioLetalVarroa formic" evaporator dispenses a minimum amount of formic acid (continuous release), sufficient to gradually break down nascent varroa, and not; therefore, it is recommended to make a treatment with sublimated oxalic acid (BioLetalVarroa sublimator recommended), to break down the maximum amount of varroa out of brood and continue, 3-4 days later, with the treatment by "BioLetalVarroa formic".4) Fill the dispenser with the amount needed for a single 25-day treatment, which is about 360 g of 85% formic acid, through the two holes provided to house the sponges, positioning it vertically and then closing it by means of the two caps provided by package until it is placed in the Beehive.5) If checking for Varroa drop, it is recommended not to clean the Varroa tray with a brush, but to operate it with a dustpan or possibly wear a protective mask, to avoid inhaling any residual oxalic acid.6) Place the dispenser on top of the frames in the center of the family, removing the end caps and inserting the two sponges into the holes provided, lodging them vertically until they touch the bottom.7) Close the Beehive with the upside-down cover if fitted with a 55mm frame. Otherwise, add a frame of the same size and close the Beehive normally8) To operate in excellent condition, it is necessary to protect the Beehive with insulation (polystyrene s20-25mm recommended) to prevent sun-induced overheating, thus allowing the evaporator to operate exclusively with the natural temperature of the bee family. 9) For the treatment of the cores, the execution of the treatment is equivalent to that of the Beehives. Operation The timer allows setting the sublimation time through an internal 'trimmer', accessible through the hole provided on the top, and customizable according to the type of treatment. The default time is set in the 'family' mode at 1min 50sec, which corresponds to the treatment time for families on 10-frame Beehives; it is possible to set the timer to the nuclei mode by setting the trimmer to the 'core' position, which corresponds to 1min 20sec, with the help of the supplied accessory. By turning the same trimmer clockwise (to increase the time) and counterclockwise (to decrease the time), a duration from 0min to 5min can also be programmed. The end of the set treatment period is signaled by an audible warning emitted by a 'buzzer' inside the timer; it is possible to start a new treatment by pressing the 'start' button located on the top of the timer, which interrupts the buzzer and starts counting the set treatment time again. Installation The timer should be installed on the sublimator cable, and its location can be freely chosen by the beekeeper according to his or her preferences. However, it is important that the - polarity (blue wire) and + polarity (brown wire) are respected for the timer to operate properly. It is also possible to control 1 or 2 sublimators with a single timer by connecting the two wires of the same sublimators in and out. The default time is set in the 'family' mode at 1min 50sec, which corresponds to the treatment time for families on 10-frame Beehives; it is possible to set the timer to the nuclei mode by setting the trimmer to the 'core' position, which corresponds to 1min 20sec, with the help of the supplied accessory. By turning the same trimmer clockwise (to increase the time) and counterclockwise (to decrease the time), a duration from 0min to 5min can also be programmed. The end of the set treatment period is signaled by an audible warning emitted by a 'buzzer' inside the timer; it is possible to start a new treatment by pressing the 'start' button located on the top of the timer, which interrupts the buzzer and starts counting the set treatment time again. Installation The timer should be installed on the sublimator cable, and its location can be freely chosen by the beekeeper according to his or her preferences. However, it is important that the - polarity (blue wire) and + polarity (brown wire) are respected for the timer to operate properly. It is also possible to control 1 or 2 sublimators with a single timer by connecting the two wires of the same sublimators in and out. Two locations are recommended for the installation of the timer on the cable: - Close to the battery, if it is moved continuously near the beekeeper; - Close to the sublimators, leaving enough cable for the beekeeper to make the moves from one Beehive to another
